Trips from Buenos Aires
Duration: 3 days
- 2 nights
DAY 1
Reception at Trelew
airport and private transfer to Las Restingas boutique
Hotel
Spend the day observing the vast array of wildlife
that Patagonia tours have to offer. This area of
important reserves and rookeries is home to guanacos,
lesser rheas, Patagonia foxes, hairy armadillos,
and Patagonian hares.
DAY 2
Your
guide will meet you at your hotel to visit Puerto
PirĂ¡mides, the only urban settlement in the entire
peninsula from where expeditions leave to enjoy the
whale watching. Every year, during winter and spring
season, a great number of Southern Right Whales arrive
at the Atlantic coast, mainly at Caleta Valdes sea-coast,
Golfo San Jose and Golfo Nuevo, near Peninsula Valdes
in the Chubut province.
This is the best time to visit our coasts to meet
these giants which placidly arrive at the date.
DAY 3
Visit to Punta
Tombo Reserve, the most important breeding colony
of Magellan penguins in the world, on the bank of
Rio Chubut. Here a declining population of the species,
still numbering over 300,000, returns in early September
and stays until the chicks learn to swim before heading
north in the spring.
Walking among these remarkable creatures is undoubtedly
a memorable highlight of many Patagonia tours. Other
species such as kelp gulls, cormorants, giant petrels,
dolphin gulls, the Chubut steamer duck, hairy armadillos
and Patagonian foxes also inhabit the area.
We strongly suggest a visit to the Egidio Feruglio
paleontology museum which houses an extensive collection
of dinosaur replicas.
Transfers to Trelew airport to take flight back to
Buenos Aires.
